A Home Away From Home: Driving Futures at Nibras for Over a Decade

15-01-2026

Every morning begins with a familiar sight at Nibras International School.

A Familiar Start to Every Day

Every morning begins with a familiar sight at Nibras International School. As students step on and off the bus, they are greeted by the warm smiles of our dedicated drivers, including Sofi Ullah, who has been with our school for sixteen years; KarmulChunuAhmed, and Zubairwho have been with us for fifteen years; Aboobacker for twelve years; and Inayat for ten years. These drivers have been part of the Nibras community for more than a decade, and their presence sets the tone for a safe and reassuring start to every school day.

Family Beyond the Wheel

For many of our long-serving drivers, being behind the wheel is far more than a job. They are the first and last people students see each day, and they carry a quiet responsibility that goes beyond transportation. Parents trust them with their children, and students often describe them as extended family who make them feel cared for before they even enter the building. This sense of connection has grown over their many years of service, creating bonds that feel personal and genuine.

Their work at Nibras has also shaped their own families. Several drivers share that their time at the school has allowed them to provide education and opportunities for their children and their families back home. Their years of dedication have supported dreams, opened doors, and created stability at home. These stories highlight the real impact that long service can have on an entire family, not only the individual.

"Working at Nibras has given me the chance to support my family and give them opportunities. Because of this job, I have been able to plan for their future. Nibras has helped my family grow, and I am thankful every day," said Sofi Ullah, the bus driver who has been with the school the longest at sixteen years.

A Community That Cares

Within the school itself, many of our drivers describe Nibras as a place that feels like home. Their friendships with staff, daily interactions with students, and the respect they receive create a sense of belonging that is rare to find. After more than ten or fifteen years, they speak with pride about being part of a community where everyone matters and every role contributes to the school experience.

"I have watched students grow from their very first day of school to the moment they step onto the bus as confident young adults. Being part of their journey every morning and afternoon is something I am truly proud of. Nibras feels like home to me because this community cares for everyone," said Karmul, who has been with Nibras for fifteen years.

Their loyalty stands as a powerful example of care in action. They are unsung heroes who have supported generations of students, quietly contributing to the well-being of the school every single day. Their commitment reflects the strength of the Nibras community and the values we share.

"Our drivers play an essential role in shaping the Nibras experience. They greet our students with kindness, ensure their safety, and build relationships that last for years," said Leo Abang, our Transportation Manager. "Their dedication reflects the heart of our community, and we are grateful for the care they show every single day."

From the classroom to the driver's seat, every role has a meaningful impact on student life. As we celebrate our 20th Anniversary, we are proud to share their story as part of our 20 Stories of Nibras series, honoring the people who make NIS truly feel like a home away from home.
