Nibras International School came to life once again as students returned to campus for the start of the 2026-2027 Academic Year. Back-to-School Week was filled with warm welcomes, happy reunions, and new beginnings as returning students reconnected with friends and teachers, while new students and families were welcomed into the Nibras community. Welcoming New and Returning Families to the Nibras Community The return to school was about much more than stepping back into the classroom. It was an opportunity to strengthen the sense of community and belonging that sits at the heart of Nibras International School. This was especially important for families joining Nibras for the first time. From meeting teachers and classmates to becoming familiar with the campus and school community, the first days helped new students and their families feel welcomed, connected, and ready for the year ahead. Welcoming new families further enriched this international community, giving students opportunities to form new friendships, learn from different perspectives, and develop a broader understanding of the world around them. Reflecting on the return to school, School Superintendent Dr. Jay Teston said, "It was wonderful to welcome our returning families and those joining Nibras for the first time. Our diverse community is at the heart of who we are, and we want every student and family to feel that they belong." Settling Into a New Year of Learning Throughout the week, teachers and colleagues supported students as they settled into their routines, built relationships, and became familiar with their new learning environments. These first days provided an important foundation as students met new teachers, reconnected with classmates, made new friends, and prepared for the opportunities ahead. For our younger learners, the first days of school focused on building confidence, curiosity, and positive connections. Welcoming classrooms and personalized support helped children settle comfortably while giving teachers the opportunity to get to know each student and understand how they learn best. "We wanted every child to feel happy, confident, and excited to learn. By getting to know each student as an individual, we can help them feel supported and ready to thrive," Ms. Althea Edmondson, our Elementary School Principal, shared. Secondary School: Setting Goals and Taking Ownership For Secondary students, returning to campus provided an opportunity to reconnect, welcome new classmates, set new goals, and take greater ownership of their learning. Students began the year thinking about their ambitions and the skills they would continue to develop, supported by personalized learning experiences that recognize their individual strengths, interests, and aspirations. "We encouraged our students to set ambitious goals and take ownership of their learning. Through personalized support, we help them build the confidence and skills they need for the future," Mr. Jason Sanservino, our Secondary School Principal, added. Grade 12: A Meaningful Final First Day For our Grade 12 students, the start of the academic year was particularly meaningful as they experienced their final first day of high school and began an important year of milestones, memories, and preparation for what comes next. "It felt very different knowing this was my last first day of high school. Nibras has been such an important part of my journey, and I am excited to make the most of this final year with my friends, teachers, and the whole school community," Lobha, a Grade 12 student, shared. Looking Ahead: One Nibras Community Back-to-School Week marked an exciting beginning for the Nibras community and set the tone for the academic year ahead. With returning and new families now coming together as one community, Nibras International School looks forward to building on this positive start, creating more opportunities for students to discover their strengths, celebrate diversity, build meaningful connections, and grow into confident learners who are ready for what comes next.
